I've been lucky enough to be driven around the island via motorcycle on a few occasions now. Because of this I have seen parts of the island that I never knew existed until recently. Geoje is a vast island with multiple cities and bustling villages to occupy weekend after weekend. Yesterday my friend Dave, my motor escort, took me to one of the farther beaches. While had some large bits of seaweed washed up it was nonetheless relaxing. A few Korean children ran up to us while we were laying out pointing and yelling "waygook," or foreigner, and then proceeded to talk to us.
Minutes later a large group of men who had probably been drinking soju since 10 am began their game of soccer just a few feet away. Their game consisted of stumbles over one another followed by trips in the ocean all while trying to keep the ball alive.

As we were leaving we came upon what looked to be an abandoned school. Walking through the classrooms with broken doors and graffiti it was a strangely beautiful sight to behold. But it wasn't sad like at the abandoned/haunted amusement park. Perhaps because the schools windows faced the beautiful ocean. Not a bad way to attend class.
After two lazy days on the beaches of Geoje I truly look forward to what this summer weather has in store for me. Living within a short scooter ride away from the beach with a mountainous backdrop is something I've never experienced and I couldn't be more excited to get my toes in the sand.
